Punta del Este is a popular destination in Uruguay for its beaches and proximity to the famous Casapueblo. The city is located 131 km from Montevideo.

Leaving Montevideo by car before arriving in Punta del Este visit the Casapueblo in Punta Ballena, the old summer house of the plastic artist and architect Carlos Páez Vilaró. The house was designed by him and resembles the houses on the coast of Santorini in Greece.

Today the house houses a museum, hotel, and restaurant. The museum shows the artist’s works and also has a cinema with documentaries about his life and work. After visiting the museum enjoy the beautiful view.

Head to Playa Brava in Punta del Este where the famous “Monumento los Dedos” is located and take many photos.

If possible consider staying longer in Punta del Este to enjoy the beaches and explore other spots in the city.
